そんな中、７月２９日（日）に、西日本のひとつの県である山口県で、県知事選挙が行われます。 旧来の原発推進の候補者に混じって、一人、脱原発派の候補者(飯田哲也氏)が立候補しています。
In the midst of all this, on July 29 (sun), there will be an election for the governor of Yamaguchi prefecture; a prefecture on the western end of Japan. Along with the current pro-nuclear candidate, there will be a candidate from the anti-nuclear movment: TETSUNARI IIDA.
彼は、山口県を脱原発、自然エネルギーで環境と経済を良くしていく「グリーン経済改革」を提唱しています。まず、山口、そして山口から日本を創りかえると言っています。 山口県は、政治的に強い土地柄で、総理大臣を最も多く出している県です。なので、ここの知事が脱原発派になることの意味は非常に大きいです。日本が変わる可能性が出てくるのです。
He is calling for a "green economy reform" through abolishing the current plan of building a nuclear power plant in Yamaguchi and focusing on renewable energy. Yamaguchi prefecture is known as a political stronghold, it is the prefecture that has put out the most amount of prime ministers in the history of Japan. Therefore, a change in Yamaguchi, can lead to the change of Japan as a whole!

Before the Fukushima meltdown, there was an anti-nuclear governor running for office for Fukushima prefecture. However, due to a scandal created by the media, he lost the race. The Japanese government (and the corporation) will do anything to continue the nuclear power program. Therefore, it is crucial to create a situation where the world is watching the election (and the nuclear free candidate) in Yamaguchi prefecture.
